ABOUT DR. L. VAN TUYL

Dr. Loraine Van Tuyl is a certified hypnotherapist and licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California (PSY 18317).  She has 14 years of professional counseling experience acquired at her private practice, the UC Davis Counseling Center, Travis Air Force Base Family Support Center, and community mental health agencies in San Jose and Palo Alto.

At each of these work sites, she offered comprehensive services including: crisis intervention; career and psychological testing; individual, couples, and group counseling; clinical supervision; workshops; community outreach programs; and consultation. 

She is committed to balanced and soulful living, and maintains or regains her inner balance through a variety of techniques honoring the mind–body–spirit union such as writing, bikram yoga, tai chi, reading, dancing, drawing, photography, shamanic journeying, energy and body work, meditation, community service, connecting with loved ones, and appreciating beauty and nature.  She has traveled to more than twenty-five countries, and has counseled others in Dutch, Surinamese, and Spanish in addition to English.
